Why haven't I been able to recapture?

Ottia,
at first I captured your knight on space 160 by the elephant (+ soldiers) and you aren't able to recapture by a soldier (rule: soldiers can't capture elephants.).
Second I moved the elephant from space 160 to space 166 (4 spaces further) and captured your chariot (+ soldier) on space 167 by my soldier. You couldn't recapture by your knight (space 129) because my elephant on space 166 blocked the way.
Third I captured your knight (space 129) by my elephant. No recapture possible (see at first!).
Fourth I captured your elephant (+ soldiers) on space 131 by my elephant with the twentieth move. (Rule: No recapture possible at the end of a turn.)

Thanks a lot for your explanation! I have now played out your move in my file. I suppose I will need a couple of days to think my move over. I really need to remember that elephants can NOT be attacked by plain soldiers.

second part of turn 3. I captured your ship and resailed in order to gather the elephant...and the galleon withdrew a little bit.

There goes my reply! Not a very complicated move... some pressure on your vessels and a little retreat for an elephant.

I suppose that you won't be amused but I like to inspect one of your galleons. So my elephant is sailing to your island and disembark there. He goes to space 175, my sailor goes aboard and convinces your captain of our whisky...

Turn 4, part 1 (11 action points used) --- recapture, Ottia?

I should not have left the galleon with all the drunks anchored at the port. Oh well... I'm afraid your elephant will take a liking to my recapturing galleon, but your sailor will have to go with my mineral water when he's finished his bottles.
